Faith Amelia

I'm one day old now! Just a few pictures of me. Notice I do have some Plumbers Inc clothes. I'm happy and eating well. Mom and Dad think I'm the best!

A Good Day for a Birthday

Well worth the wait! At 9:35 this morning we welcomed Faith Amelia Gundersen weighing in at a healthy 8lbs 14oz and 22 inches long. She's a whole lot of baby and has thick, dark hair. Things took a little longer than we expected with the labor and in the end due to a small complication she ended up being delivered via c-section, but are so pleased with how well it turned out. The ladies in the OR and I were wagering how big she would be. :)

All the nurses, doctors, and anesthetists have been fantastic here at the hospital. It's a great day, but we are extremely tired. We've both been up for about 44 hours solid, so I'll be wrapping up soon.

Praise the Lord for our special girl! She's just so cool that we can't keep our eyes off of her. Except for tonight we're going to let those great nurses keep her in the nursery for us so we can get some rest.

I'm sure we'll have more pictures to share soon, but here are a few.

A Lesson in Patience...

Well, we're still waiting. We went into the hospital this morning at 6am to be induced. Got pitocin going by about 8 or so and had some good contractions all day, but just didn't progress enough. The doctor said we'll try again in the morning. We don't want to force things too much. We've waited this long, right?

A little lesson I heard from Joyce Meyer that I've kept with me for some time is that patience is not the ability to wait, but the ability to stay positive while waiting. Isn't that the hardest? A bit of a frustration to have to hang out for the night, but we'll just consider it a mini vacation. :)

Thank you to everyone who has sent us their prayers and well wishes. It's really great knowing we've got so much support.

Have a good evening. We'll hopefully have news of weight, length and name tomorrow.

The Nursery

It's getting there. Just a few more touches, but we are ready to welcome baby. We've been scheduled to be induced on February 25 - Grandma Bonnie's birthday!

Just need to move the glider rocker into the corner. We've been test driving it in the living room, so it might be hard to give up.

We didn't have a changing table, but we did have an old tv stand that I decided to convert. A little fabric and some sewing and we've got ourselves a changing table.

We got a toy organizer thinking we'd eventually be able to fill it up. Ummm.. we might need a second one already.

Baby Shower Time

Before I talk about baby showers I want to congratulate sister-in-law Betty and her husband Ryan for becoming proud parents to baby Jack Ryan David yesterday. He weighed in at 8lbs 6 oz and 20inches long. We are thankful for his safe arrival and can't wait to meet our new nephew.
Baby girl and I have been busy being showered lately - WOW! Here are some pictures of a shower held for us at Bethel Lutheran Church hosted by my sister-in-law Christine with help from many wonderful ladies. A great devotion was given by my mother-in-law on the women in the Bible who also waited for their babies and some great advice on showing our little girl through our example how important the Bible and God's Word are to us. As excited as we are, we are also so very very thankful to the Lord for giving us this blessing. I remind myself with every new uncomfortable or inconvenient pregnancy symptom that I get to experience these things. That is a privilege that has been granted to me and us through God's grace. (I will have to have Dave remind me of that during the pain of delivery. :)

So happy my friend Kelly from Hackensack and her 6 month old son Logan were able to drive down and spend some time with me. Logan is a great baby! We had so much fun catching up on everything. I hadn't seen him since he was only a few weeks old.

A shower was also given for us at the bank. There was lots of good food, fun games, and visiting. A big thank you to my friends at work!

We played the Price is Right, baby style with hosts Kylene and Bobbi.

Only 4 weeks left??

Well, only 4 weeks left until the due date. Dave took this picture just this morning. I don't look ready do I? We have an appointment tomorrow morning, so we'll see what the doctor thinks. Been working on a lot of little things around the house. No nesting yet!

The nursery has been painted and crib put together. Just need to get the curtains hung and a few things put on the wall and it's pretty much done.

Our last back to back picture together before the cousins arrive. This was taken at Betty's baby shower on January 23rd. Betty's boy, Jack Ryan David Hargan is now due about a week before Baby G.

Today was wash the toys day for Oscar. He doesn't like losing his "babies" for an hour. I have to sneak them in the wash machine when he's out playing in the snow.

He doesn't have much for patience while waiting for them to come out of the dryer.

He's going in.
